Lie # 22 “Jesus came to earth and lived as both fully God and fully man.”
No, otherwise John 5:30 makes no sense: “By myself I can do nothing.” Though He was fully God and fully man, He laid aside His deity (He “emptied Himself” – see Philippians 2:5-9) and operated as the Son of Man in order to identify with us in all things except with our in Adam fallen state of being – until at Calvary. There He became sin by taking on the Adamic nature of mankind, thereby crucifying it so that all those who believe in Him could be
raised as new creations, having died to the former in Adam, old man with Christ. If Jesus operated on earth as our perfect holy God, he could not have died let alone “become sin.” He exchanged all His “good” – from living a perfect life – for all our “bad,” the very evil, depraved nature of Adam. Why? To remake all believers “the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus,” according to 2 Corinthians 5:21. What is true for Christ Jesus is now true spiritually for those in Him – from God’s viewpoint. Wow!
Lie # 23 “Every Christian must put on the armor of God every day to stay protected from the devil’s attacks.”
No, because all those in Christ, who is our armor, are already clothed in Him 24/7. See Chapter Twenty for full details of how you are already equipped for battle. But it is good to be continually mindful of being in Christ and renewing your mind on what Jesus’ whole Gospel offers – including His authority and power over the devil to enforce Jesus’ victory, already won on Calvary.
