Righteousness In Moses Day

LYRICS & COMMENTARY

LYRICS

Righteousness in Moses day meant keeping every law Rm. 2:25, James 2:10
It’s something only Jesus Christ can do. Heb. 4:15
The Law was given, not to keep, but prove man’s sinful state, Rm. 7:7-8, James 2:10
So exchange it for His Grace and be made New. 2 Cor. 5:17-21

For Righteousness, through Jesus Christ, is not about the Law Rm. 3:21 & Rm 5:5 & 9
But it’s God’s Gift that only He can give. Rm. 1:17,
It comes by faith in what He’s Done, not what You do for Him, Rm. 3:21-25a & Rm 4:6-8
So accept His saving Grace so You can live. Eph. 2:8-9, Rm. 10:9-11

COMMENTARY

The content of my songs are based on revelations from verses in the Bible. So I often include them with my song lyrics. Just click on the red “buttons” next to the lyrics to see the actual verses pop up. Jesus’ Gospel revealed to Paul is so amazing, it deserves documentation.

Additionally, in my Post on February 28th, titled Repentance, Righteousness and Rebirth Defined, I define the term “righteousness” as “right- standing” with God or “justification” because both words come from the same Greek word. Then, I explain the three kinds of righteousness presented in the Bible.

The first in the chronological order of the Bible was God’s gift of “imputed” righteousness to Abraham because he believed God’s promise “to make him the father of many nations,” according to Genesis 15:6.

The second kind was what could be called “works-righteousness” which is not a gift but accomplished by one living without sinning for his or her whole life. Only Jesus could – and did – “earn” this kind of righteousness by His perfect life. He then He mercifully exchanged His righteousness for our unrighteousness at the Cross – for all who are born again of God. This, then, is the third kind of righteousness – a gift from God of “imparted” righteousness. We are made complete and perfect in God’s sight in our regenerated spirit-self by faith in what Jesus did for us, as Hebrews 10:14 declares.

Ultimately, all three kinds are gifts from God because humans in Adam cannot live perfectly to earn or maintain right-standing with our perfect Father-God. For more details about this revelation, or the other two very important “R” words, click here: Repentance, Righteousness and Rebirth Defined.
