46 Lies That Trap Many Christians – #20 and #21

Lie # 20 “Anyone teaching the Gospel of radical grace is lawless or “antinomian” and, therefore, a heretic.”

No, that trick of the devil is spoken by well-meaning but deceived pastors and teachers, just like the Judaizers spoke it about Paul. Jesus’ grace Gospel is based on a higher law of the Spirit of life – faith, love and liberty – found in Galatians 5:1-6 (and elsewhere in separate verses) that reveals how God’s Kingdom works. This is what Jesus lived by rather than being limited by the minimums of the Mosaic Law – now made obsolete for Jews at Calvary and replaced by the New Covenant with God’s higher law of the Spirit of life, Romans 8:2. The law principle still operates to bring in Adam sinners to Christ. But it is not for believers, according to 1 Timothy 1:9. Unfortunately, most early Jewish believers held on to and mixed their roots in the Law with grace and spawned the elephant of mixture that still mentally confuses, condemns and confounds believers today. See Chapter Three and Appendices # 3 and # 11 for examples. One of the main reasons for the Elephant book is to expose that 2000 year old lie.

Lie # 21 “All true miracles ended when the last apostle died.”

No, the Doctrine of Cessation was instituted to cover up the deadness in institutional, law-based churches. When Jesus’ grace Gospel is ignored, the vibrant life of the Holy Spirit in believers is stifled to prevent sin and possible “disorder” in the church. Law-minded people are often more about the control of other people and “the flesh” rather than depending on the fruit of self-control through the Holy Spirit.

People can abuse the power of guns or automobiles, but banning them by external law will only arouse more rebellion and abuse. America’s ill-advised Prohibition Laws bore that out. Infinitely better is the law of the Spirit of Life that sets believers free of the constraints of the law of sin and death that causes condemnation (see Romans 8:1-2). He gives His beloved children the power and grace to live in His higher law – through the gifts of faith in Him which reveals His love for us and His liberty. See Chapter nineteen to discover more about God’s alternative to living under the curse of the law.
