46 Lies That Trap Many Christians – #18 and #19

Lie # 18 “To be saved, a sinner must confess his sins, believe in Jesus and do good deeds.”

No, salvation is a free gift paid for by Jesus. According to what Jesus told Paul, recorded in Romans 10:9-13, in Adam sinners, who are automatically in Darkness and bound for hell, do not have to “confess their sins” to be saved, even though the elephant of mixture says you must. Salvation is about believing, receiving and professing Jesus’ and His divine exchange by faith alone. Jesus has already done for us all the “good deeds” needed with His life and His sacrificial death on Calvary to accomplish your rebirth. John 6:40 states: “It is my Father’s will that everyone who looks to the Son (Jesus) and believes in Him shall have eternal life.” Jesus plays no favorites! See and believe Romans 10:9-13, highlighted in my much smaller “Discovering… ” book. Verse 9 plainly states: If you confess (profess) with your mouth that “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be (are) saved.” Why don’t you have to confess your sins first? Because, from God’s view, Jesus paid for all the sins of all mankind for all time – on Calvary, almost 2000 years ago. God’s view is the only one that counts!

Lie # 19 “God gave the Mosaic Law to mankind so that all who obey it can go to heaven.”

Not true. The Mosaic Law was given only to the Jews. It was meant to show God’s wisdom to improve the health and social order in the seen realm (see Deuteronomy 4:5-6) so it is a great code of civil law for nations. But it never offered eternal life to mankind because it only addressed outward behaviors which cannot change one’s nature in Adam. Galatians 4:9 describes the Mosaic Law as weak and unprofitable for achieving salvation because it only shows where you are wrong (always falling short of perfection) but gives you no power to keep it. Read about the purpose and proper use of the Law, according to Jesus’ Gospel to Paul in Chapter Eight and the law’s eight harsh realities, presented in Chapter Nine. This revelation will amaze you.
